Summary of Case:	"Johnny Lee Adams was wrongly convicted in 2009 of the misdemeanor of possessing less than a gram of cocaine in Houston, Texas. Less than a month after Johnny Adams pled guilty in exchange for the misdemeanor charge and a 90 day sentence, the Harris County DA's Office received the report from the Houston PD crime lab that the substance seized from Adams wasn't cocaine. Even though Adams was still serving his sentence, the DA's Office didn't notify him or his attorney that he had been convicted of a non-existent crime. It wasn't until July 2014 that the DA's office sent a letter to Adams informing him that he had been "convicted in error." Adams filed a petition to vacate his conviction based on his actual innocence. In March 2016 the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals granted Adams' petition vacating his conviction."
