Summary of Case:

Wrongly convicted in 1989 of murdering his wife Brenda in Newfoundland. Dalton's conviction was overturned on appeal 8-1/2 years later in 1998. Dalton was released on bail from prison pending a new trial. Dalton was acquitted in 2000 after a retrial. Forensic evidence indicated his wife Brenda had not been strangled. Rather, she choked to death on her own food. Dalton was awarded an undisclosed amount of compensation in 2008 by the Newfoundland government.
