Summary of Case:

"David Wayne Kunze was wrongly convicted of murdering his ex-wife's fiancée. Convicted solely on the basis of an alleged "earprint" left on a door in the murder victim's house. In 1999 the WA Court of Appeals reversed his conviction because of the unreliability of "earprint" testimony. Released on $500,000 bail in Aug 2000, Kunze's second trial ended in a mistrial, and prosecutors declined to retry him a third time because of a lack of evidence he committed the crime."
