Summary of Case:

"Chris McCullough was wrongly convicted in 1991 of the 1989 murder of a female school teacher. McCullough's convictiono was quashed in January 2000 by the Ontario Court of Appeal after he was excluded by DNA tests of crime scene evidence, and six months later prosecutors dropped the charges in June 2000 after two jailhouse informants recanted their testimony against McCullough as fabricated, and an eyewitness came forward who excluded McCullough - and whose police statement at the time of the murder in 1989 was "misplaced." McCullough was wrongly imprisoned for nine years. McCullough filed a $7.6 million malicious prosecution lawsuit in December 2000, that was indefinitely stayed in February 2003."
