Summary of Case:	"Wrongly convicted on July 2, 2010, of raping a 17-year-old boy during a Christmas party in December 2007. The co-defendant of Richard Alan Watkins was acquitted of committing the rape, while the jury convicted Watkins of having 'aided and abetted' him as part of a "joint enterprise." The defense of Watkins' co-defendant was the sex was consensual and the jury agreed. The trial judge granted Watkins bail while appealing his conviction. In September 2010 Watkins' conviction was quashed on the basis that the there was no "sensible explanation" for how the jury could have committed him of aiding and abetting a rape that never happened. Because he was granted bail after his conviction, Watkins didn't serve any time in jail."
