"True story about Sonia Jacobs (played by Mimi Rogers) - and her husband, Jesse Tafero, who were convicted as co-defendants for the 1976 murder of two Florida policemen. Sonia spent 17 years in prison, and Jesse was executed in 1990. Jesse suffered a particularly gruesome fate for an innocent man. He burst into flames while strapped into the electric chair during his execution, because of an electrical malfunction. Sonias childhood friend (Veronica Hamel), a filmmaker, endeavors and eventually wins her freedom. The real killer had confessed to the murders to the police and committed perjury during their trial, but it wasnt revealed to Sonia until after her husband had already been falsely executed. She was released from prison in Florida on October 9, 1992." |
