"Anthony Alamia was wrongly convicted on July 12, 2012 of two counts of online solicitation of a minor. After his conviction by a bench (judge only) trial, Alamia was sentenced to 10 years in prison, payment of a $1,000 fine, and registration as a sex offender. The Texas Court of Appeals, 5th Dist. affirmed Alamia's conviction. On December 16, 2015 the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals granted Smythe's direct appeal and reversed his conviction and ordered dismissal of his indictments on the basis the statute he was convicted of violating was unconstitutional. The mandate was issued Jan. 11, 2016."
