Summary of Case:

"Daniel Anderson was wrongly convicted in 1982 of murder in the death of 20-year-old Cathy Trunko in Chicago in 1980. Anderson's prosecutino was based on his confession after intense interrogation by Chicago Police Dept. officers. Post-conviction DNA testing of crime scene evidence excluded Anderson. His conviction was overturned, and he was released from prison in 2007. He was subsequently granted a certificate of innocence. Anderson filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Chicago PD, and a group of current and former Chicago PD officers. On June 8, 2021 a jury awarded Anderson $7.5 million."
