Summary of Case:

"George Anderson was co-defendant of Margaret Hewitt in Northern Ireland's largest child abuse case. Wrongly convicted in 2004 of 15 counts of child abuse and two counts of rape that allegedly occurred more than 25 years earlier at a home for children. Sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. One of the accusers came forward after the trial and said he had lied, in part based on the police's promise that he would receive tens of thousands of English pounds in compensation. The Court of Appeals quashed both defendant's convictions in June 2005. In September 2005 the government announced it would not retry either defendant."
