Summary of Case:

"Covey Ronnell Andrews was wrongly convicted of federal drug and firearms charges based on evidence provided by Richmond, Virginia Detective Jason Norton. Ensley was sentenced to 7 years 6 months in federal prison. An investigation into irregularities in search warrant affidavits based on alleged information provided by alleged confidential informants and other suspicious conduct by Det. Norton from 2008 to 2012, discovered that Norton fraudulently obtained the search warrant in Andrews' case upon which his prosecution was based. The investigation discovered that Norton's fraudulent evidence may have beenn relied on to obtain more than 100 convictions. On April 1, 2015 the U.S. Attorney's Office's motion to dismiss the charges was granted by U.S. District Court Judge Henry E. Hudson. Andrews was released from federal prison on April 7, 2015. Norton was hired as a recruit on April 5, 2004, and left the department as a police officer on July 1, 2013."
