Summary
of Case:
|
"Wrongly convicted in June 2006 of smuggling drugs in 2002. When arrested at the airport for a flight to Berlin, she claimed that the 10 kilograms of hashish customs officers found was in the bag of an Israeli acquaintance -- which he denied. She was jailed from her November 21, 2002 arrest until her trial and conviction of three drug charges. Daisy Angus was sentenced to 10 years "rough imprisonment." Daisy Angus turned down an opportunity to transfer to a prison in England, so she could stay in India and fight her conviction. After 4-1/2 years of imprisonment Daisy Angus' conviction was quashed by the Bombay High Court in April 2007, and she was released. " |
