Summary of Case:

"Dr. Jalees Ansari, Mohamed Saleem Ansari, Mohamed Zaheeruddin, Mohamed Nisaruddin, and Mohamed Yusuf were wrongly convicted on February 28, 2004 of terrorism charges related to bomb blasts in Hyderabad, Rajasthan and New Delhi. Ansari was arrested in 1993. He was charged with establishing Islahul Muslimeen Organization after the demolition of Babri Masjid and its members organized bomb blasts in various parts of the country. After their convictions by the TADA Court of Jaipur, Ansari, Mohamed Ansari, Zaheeruddin, Nisaruddin, and Yusef were sentenced to life in prison and fined. In May 2016 the Supreme Court of India set-aside Ansari's conviction. The convictions of Mohamed Ansari, Zaheeruddin, Nisaruddin, and Yusef were set-aside by India's Supreme Court on May 16, 2016. The convictions of 9 of the 16 codefendants have been affirmed, and as of May 2016 the appeals of two others are stil pending."
