Appasaheb was sentenced to seven years. In January 2007, India's Supreme Court quashed Appasaheb's conviction. The ruled, "The evidence adduced by the prosecution does not show that any demand for "dowry" as defined in Section 2 of the Dowry Prohibition Act was made by the husband."" |
