Summary of Case:

"Antonio J. Armstrong was wrongly convicted on April 28, 2005 of federal charges of possession of crack cocaine with an intent to distribute and an unrelated charge of possession of a firearm by a felon, based on false evidence by Tulsa Police Department officers. Armstrong was sentenced on August 19, 2005 to 12 years in federal prison for his drug conviction and 10 years for the firearm charge. Armstrong was one of dozens of defendants who had their drug related convictions oveturned and the charges dismissed based on a federal grand jury investigation begun in 2008 that uncovered evidence at least eight Tulsa police officers and a former federal agent were involved in framing defendants, and they falsified search warrants, relied on nonexistent informants, and stole drugs and money. On July 20, 2010 the federal indictment of five Tulsa Police Department officers was unsealed. On May 13, 2011 U.S. District Judge Joe Heaton vacated Armstrong's drug conviction. Armstrong remained in federal prison for his unrelated firearm conviction. As of July 12, 2012 at least 44 people had their drug related state or federal conviction overturned or their charges dismissed based on the Tulsa PD corruption scandal."
