"David Asbury was wrongly convicted of murdering a 51 year old woman in January 1997 in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and stealing a biscuit tin containing £1,400. His conviction was based on fingerprint testimony that was subsequently discredited on appeal. Asbury conviction was reversed by the Court of Appeal on August 13, 2002, after evidence was presented that discredited the prosecution's expert fingerprint testimony linking Asbury to the crime. David Asbury was released on bond in 2000 pending the outcome of his appeal, and he spent 3-1/2 years wrongly imprisoned."
