Summary of Case: |
"Gabriel Baddeley was 19 when he wrongly pled guilty in March 2002 after being pressured by police to confess to setting a fire in August 2001 at the high school in Prosser, Washington. Baddeley had a mental disability that made him highly suggestible to suggestions he committed the crime. Baddeley was sentenced to two months in jail, 180 hours of community service and ordered to pay restitution of $650,000. The actual arsonist confessed to authorities in 2004 and provided details not released to the public. The prosecution's motion to vacate Baddeley's conviction was granted on March 31, 2004 and his charges were dismissed." |
