Summary of Case:	"Poonam Bai was wrongly convicted on April 6, 2018 of murder in the death of her aunt in the Indian state of Chhatisgarh. The key evidence against Bai was a dying declaration by the victim -- Bai's aunt -- who died from being doused with kerosene that was then ignited with a match-stick. Bai was acquitted by the trial court in 2010, but the State appealed. On April 6, 2018 the High Court of Chhattisgarh at Bilaspur set aside Bai's acquittal, and found her guilty of violaint Section 302 of the IPC. She was sentenced to rogorous imprisonment for life and payment of a fine of Rs. 500. Bai appealed. On April 30, 2019 a three-judge panel of the Supreme Court India acquitted Bai on the basis the victim's dying declaration wasn't reliable evidence to prove her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."
