Summary of Case:

"Nickel Bailey was co-defendant of Kevin Watson. Both men were wrongly convicted in 2005 of murdering a woman on St Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands) in 2002, based solely on teh identification by the lone eyewitness. They were sentenced in August 2005 to 15 years to life in prison. The men appealed their convictions on the basis that there was insufficient evidence, including inconsistencies in the prosecution's evidence and inconsistencies in the witness' evidence, including that he didn't mention either man in his statement to the police that he gave a month after the crime or during the preliminary hearing. He only identified the two men during their trial. In May 2008 their convictions were overturned by the Court of Appeals based on insufficiency of the evidence. They were released after three years imprisonment."
