Samuel Bailey was wrongly convicted of being an ex-felon with a gun. Bailey's prosecution was based on the testimony of Rafael Perez. During his trial Bailey yelled when Perez was testifying that he was lying. Bailey later pled guilty in exchange for a sentence of two years and eight months. Bailey's conviction was overturned when it was discovered that Perez and other officers in the LAPD's Ramparts Division engaged in criminal misconduct to obtain convictions.
