Summary of Case:

"Raymond Andrew Baugh was wrongly convicted in 2002 of capital sexual battery of the 7-year-old daughter of his former girlfriend. Baugh's prosecution was based on out of court statements the girl made, but which she recanted as untrue during her trial testimony, and insisted that nothing happened. There was no physical evidence supporting that the girl had been abused. Following his conviction by a jury Raymond Baugh was sentenced to life in prison. Baugh appealed on the basis that there was insufficient evidence to support his conviction because the alleged victim positively testified during his trial that he did nothing illegal with her. On October 31, 2003 the Florica Court of Appeal, Second District, affirmed Baugh's conviction. The Florida Supreme Court accepted review of Baugh's case, and on April 26, 2007 the court reversed his conviction based on the prosecution's failure to introduce sufficient evidence to support his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."
