Summary of Case:

"Roger Beardmore was wrongly convicted of rape and attempted rape at the Stafford Crown Court in March 1998 based on the false accusation and testimony by an 11-year-old girl that the offenses had occurred from 1991 to 1993 (when she was four to six years old). Three years later admitted she made the whole thing up to gain the attention of her mother. Based on the new evidence Beardmore's conviction was reversed in December 2001. "The girl, now 14, told police that she made up the allegations. "I have put a man in prison for no reason," she said.""
