Summary of Case:	"Antonio Beaver was wrongly convicted in April 1997 of first-degree robbery in St. Louis, Missouri. Beaver's prosecution was based on the eyewitness testimony of the 26-year-old woman who was robbed on August 15, 1996. After his conviction by a jury that deliberated for two days, Beaver was sentenced to 18 years in prison. His his conviction was affirmed and the Missouri state court's denied his state post-conviction habeas petition for a new trial. On October 19, 2001 Beaver's federal habeas corpus petiton was filed. On September 19, 2003 U.S. Magistrate Judge Mary Ann L. Medler ordered the denial of Beaver's petition in full, and denied Beaver's motion for a certificate of appealability. In 2005 post-conviction DNA testing was ordered of the assailant's blood recovered from the crime scene. The DNA tests not excluded Antonio Beaver, but the actual perpetrator was identified from the DNA testing. Based on the new exclusionary evidence Beaver's conviction was vacated on March 30, 2007, and he was ordered released. Beaver was awarded wrongful imprisonment compensation of $181,000 by the State of Missouri."
