Summary of Case:	"Gary L Beeman was wrongly convicted in 1976 of aggravated murder and sentenced to death. Gary Beeman maintained he was innocent and that Claire Liuzzo, an escaped prisoner who testified as the main prosecution witness at Beeman's trial, was the actual killer. In 1978 Ohio's District Court of Appeals overturned Beeman's conviction and ordered a new trial. The appeals court ruled that Beeman's right to cross-examine Liuzzo had been unfairly restricted at his first trial. During Beeman's 1979 retrial five witnesses testified they heard Claire Liuzzo confess to the murder, and Beeman was acquitted by a jury. Beeman was released after three years imprisonment and two years on death row."
