""Jailhouse" snitch said Jesse Boom and Stephen Boorn had confessed to Russel Colvin's murder. Colvin had left town in 1812 and hadn't been seen since. Before the trial, Stephen falsely confessed to the murder, saying that Colvin had started a fight with him. He turned up alive after their convictions of murdering him. Convicted in November 1819, the convictions were set aside in January 1820 because no crime had been committed."
