"Orlando Boquete was wrongly convicted in 1983 of a 1982 Key West rape based on the victim's identification. While imprisoned Boquete escaped twice, and he was exonerated of the rape in May 2006 by DNA evidence that excluded him as the woman's attacker. He was teken into custody by the US Immigration Service because of detainers placed against him because of crimes he pled guilty to while he was free after his escapes. Boquete was wrongly imprisoned for 13 years. He was released in August 2006 from the custody of immigration." |
