Summary of Case:	"Wrongly convicted in 2004 of possession of drugs with intent to supply, when a car she was a passenger in was stopped and 50kgs of amphetamines were found hidden in the trunk (boot). The driver, a male, claimed full responsibility for the drugs and said she was merely riding in the car and knew nothing about them. She was convicted on the basis of an allegedly incriminating comment to a policewoman that the officer admitted not immediately documenting. Deborah Bothwell was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment. After she had served her full sentence Northern Ireland's Court of Appeals considered her case, and quashed her conviction on the basis of insufficient evidence and ordered that she not be retried. Bothwell was wrongly imprisoned for 18 months."
