"Wrongly convicted of fraudulently signing cremation certificates. By signing the certificates, Dr. Putnam Breed verified he inspected bodies before they were cremated, something he did not do. Breed was one of five people prosecuted in what was called the Bayview Crematorium scandal in Seabrook that prosecutors claimed was intended to maximize the volume of bodies and profits. On July 2, 2009 the New Hampshire Supreme Court overturned Breed's convictions of "theft by unauthorized taking and fraudulent handling of recordable writings." (the cremation certificates)"
