Summary of Case: |
"Bradford Brown was wrongly convicted in 1975 of second-degree murder in the District of Columbia. Brown was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison. Brown's conviction was overturned by an appellate court and he was released in 1979. The appellate court said: "The system worked but unfortunately convicted a man who was legally and factually innocent." Brown was convicted in spite of his plain innocence, and a detective said: "I kept thinking about what could have happened if Bradford had been in a state with the death penalty."" |
