"Sheila Bryan was wrongly convicted of murder in 1998 for allegedly setting fire to her car in 1996 that resulted in the death of her mother. Her conviction was based on the testimony of a prosecution expert that an accellerant was used to start the fire. Bryan was sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years. Her conviction was overturned by the Georgia Supreme Court and she was released on bail. She was acquitted on January 28, 2000 after her retrial. During her retrial experts testified in Bryan's defense that no accellerant was needed to start the fire."
