Summary of Case:

"Andre Bryant was wrongly convicted in June 2007 of armed robbery for the robbing the wife of a Manatee County sheriff's deputy at gunpoint at a Bradenton, Florida pharmacy on August 3, 2006. Bryant was on probation for a drug conviction at the time of his arrest. His conviction was based on his identification by the victim. Bryant was sentenced to 30 years in prison. His scheduled release date was August 15, 2036. A reinvestigation of Bryant's case spearheaded by the Innocence Project of Florida resulted in the new evidence of the pharmacy's surveillance video of the robber that cast doubt he was Bryant. On September 30, 2015 State Attorney Ed Brodsky announced in a memo that he had concluded Bryant's conviction should be set aside based on his review of new and original evidence in the case. Brodsky wrote, "While I am not making a finding as to Mr. Bryant's innocence, I do believe the re-examination of the original and new evidence in this case leads to a reasonable doubt as to Mr. Bryant's involvement in this robbery.""
