Summary of Case:

"Gyronne Buckley was wrongly convicted in May 1999 of two counts of delivering a controlled substance. The prosecution's key evidence was testimony by a police informant. After his conviction by a jury Buckley was sentenced to two terms of life in prison. In affirming his convictions in 2000 the Arkansas Supreme Court remanded him for resentencing that resulted in his resentencing to two consecutive 28 year prison terms. Post-conviction Buckley discovered documentary and videotape evidence supporting that the informant had been coached to commit perjury by the lead police officer involved in Buckley's case. Based on the prosecutorial misconduct of the failure to disclose the favorable evidence Buckley's conviction was vacated on November 1, 2010, the charges were dismissed, and he was released after 11-1-2 years of imprisonment. Buckley was awarded compensation of $460,000 on December 17, 2013 by the Arkansas Claims Commission. On July 8, 2014 an Arkansas legislative panel reversed the Commission's ruling and dismissed Buckley's claim on the basis that he was not found "not guilty." Buckley's filed a federal civil rights lawsuit that was dismissed."
