"Harry Dale Bundy was wrongly convicted in 1957 of first-degree murder in Stark County, Ohio and sentenced to death. Three days before his scheduled execution a woman recognized his co-defendant's picture in a magazine, and after contacting authorities testified that he had told her that Bundy was innocent. Sheer luck saved him from execution. A new trial was ordered based on the new evidence and Bundy was acquitted on retrial. No compensation was awarded for the time Bundy spent on death row." |
