"Les Burns was wrongly convicted in federal court on June 5, 2014 of conspiracy to distribute drugs in Lee County, Virginia. Burns prosecution was based on the testimony of a Bedbord County Sheriff's deputy that Burns admitted involvment in the conspiracy, and the testimony of several co-defendants that he was involved, although they each admitted they were promised favorable treatment in their case in exchange for their cooperation. After his conviction by a jury Burns was sentenced to 11 years and 4 months in federal prison."
