"A. B. Butler Jr. was given a full pardon of his wrongful Tyler, Texas rape and kidnapping conviction in 1983 by Gov. Bush in May 2000 "based on innocence." (CM website) Prior to being aided by Centurion Ministries, A.B. Butler's pro se petitions for DNA testing had been denied. When finally conducted, DNA tests of three hair and semen samples of the rapist excluded him. Butler was awarded compensation of $27,854 by the state of Texas for 17 years of wrongful imprisonment, plus a monthly annuity for life of $7,727.44."
