"Fabio Carlino was wrongly convicted in 2005 of selling the dose of ultra-pure cocaine that caused cyclist Marco Pantani's death by overdose on February 14th 2004. Carlino was sentenced to 4-1-2 years in prison and a fine of 19,000 Euros, in addition to the payment of 300,000 Euros in damages to Pantani's family. On November 9, 2011 Italy's highest court of appeal, the Court of Cassation, acquitted Carlino, ruling, "“Aquitted because there is no case to answer.”"
