Summary of Case: |
"David Carmichael was a Monklands, Scotland police officer wrongly convicted of neglect of duty. After his conviction by a jury, in December 2014 Carmichael was sentenced to 7 months in jail. Carmichael appealed and was released on bail pending the outcome of his appeal. In July 2015 Scotland's Court of Appeals quashed Carmichael's conviction on the basis the evidence was insufficient to support he committed neglect of duty, and it was more properly considered a matter of police discipline." |
