Summary of Case:	"José Carrasquillo was wrongly convicted of second-degree manslaughter on December 17, 1986 in New York County. The prosecution case was based on their allegation Carrasquillo inflicted a fatal blow upon the victim, who was allegedly shoplifting from the boutique where Carrasquillo worked. The victim died two days after the attack. After his conviction by a jury Carrasquillo was sentenced to an indeterminate term of 1-1/3 to 4 years in prison. The New York Supreme Court Appellate Division reversed Carrasquillo's conviction on April 21, 1988, and ordered dismissal of his indictment based on there was insufficient evidence to establish that Carrasquillo, rather than his accomplice, had struck the fatal blow."
