Summary of Case:	"Elgerie Cash and Jennifer Weathington were codefendants wrongly convicted in 2013 of murder, assault and possession of a firearm related to the shooting death of Weathington's boyfriend, Lennis Donovan "Donny" Jones in Paulding County, Georgia on May 30, 2011. After their convictions by a jury both Cash and Weathington were sentenced to life imprisonment. They both filed post-verdict motions for a new trial based on ineffective assistance of counsel concerning a number of deficiencies that included failing to present the evudebce of an exculpatory ballistics report by a defense retained expert. After a two-day evidentiary hearing, the convictions of both women were set-aside on May 13, 2014 by Judge James Osborne. Judge Osborne approved the release on May 22, 2014 of both Cash and Weathington on $15,000 bond each. In 2015 the Georgia Supreme Court rejected the state's appeal of Judge Osborne's ruling. After a retrial that began in April 2019, Cash and Weathington were acquitted by a jury on May 1, 2019."
