"Terry Chalmers was wrongly convicted in 1987 of rape, sodomy and robbery in Vernon, New York. The victim was unable to identify Chalmers from a photo lineup the day after the attack, but 46 days later she picked him out of a photo lineup with the coaching of the police. After his conviction by a jury Chalmers was sentenced to 12 to 24 years in prison. Post-conviction DNA testing excluded Chalmers. Chalmers conviction was overturned and he was released from prison in 1995." |
