Summary of Case:

"Terry Chalmers was wrongly convicted in 1987 of rape, sodomy and robbery in Vernon, New York. The victim was unable to identify Chalmers from a photo lineup the day after the attack, but 46 days later she picked him out of a photo lineup with the coaching of the police. After his conviction by a jury Chalmers was sentenced to 12 to 24 years in prison. Post-conviction DNA testing excluded Chalmers. Chalmers conviction was overturned and he was released from prison in 1995."

False eyewitness identification and police misconduct of coaching the witness to identify Chalmers when she didn't know he was her attacker.
