"Leon Chambers was wrongly convicted of murder based on the erroneous testimony of a single policeman that he saw Chambers shoot the victim. Numerous eyewitnesses, including a lifelong friend of the actual murderer, corroborated that Chambers was not the killer. Chambers was sentenced to life in prison. Chambers' conviction was reversed by the U. S. Supreme Court in 1973 (Chambers v. Mississippi, 410 U.S. 284 (1973))."
