Christian was sentenced to three years imprisonment. In 2000 Christian submitted an application to the Criminal Case Review Commission (CCRC) for review of his conviction as a miscarriage of justice. Christian's case was referred by the CCRC on January 9, 2002 to the England and Wales Court of Appeal (Criminal Division).
