"Tom Edwin Chumley was wrongly convicted on March 12, 2005 of the murder of his mother in Columbia County, Georgia. His conviction was based on his videotaped confession to the crime that he retracted. Chumley was sentenced to life in prison. His conviction was overturned in January 2008 by the Georgia Supreme Court. Chuley was acquitted on July 17, 2009 after his retrial and he was released after five years in custody."
