On the ninth day of his trial Clark changed his plea to guilty. He was sentenced to 2 years with 1 year suspended, a £10,000 fine, and payment of a £64,764 bankruptcy order. On September 9, 1999 the Criminal Case Review Commission. referred Clark's case to the Court of Appeal based on the 1996 decision by the House of Lords in R v Preddy (1996) AC 815. On April 5, 2001 by the Court of Appeals quashed Clark's conviction."
