Summary of Case:

"Dahn Clary Jr. was wrongly convicted on February 28, 1998 of aggravated sexual assault. Clary pled guilty and was sentenced to 10 years deferred adjudication. Clary's accuser signed a sworn Affidavit in June 2013 that Clary did not commit any act he accused him of when he was 11 years old. Based on the new evidence Clary filed a habeas corpus petition and Clary's accuser repeated his recantation during an evidentiary hearing in 2014. The judge recommended the granting of Clary's petition, and in April 2016 the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals granted Clary's writ. The Bowie County District Attorney filed a motion to dismiss the charges that was granted on June 13 2016. In 2016 the State of Texas awarded Clary $552,900 in wrongful imprisonment compensation."
