"Mark Cleary wrongly convicted in 1986 of the murder of a 10-year-old boy in 1985 in Nottingham, England. Cleary's conviction was based of an alleged confession that wasn't written down by the police until 12 days after he allegedly gave it. No contemporaneous notes were taken during his interrogation. Mark Cleary repeatedly requests while being questioned to consult with a solicitor were ignored. The television programme "Trial and Error" undertook an investigation of Cleary's case that discovered evidence he raised in his appeal. Cleary's conviction was quashed by the Appeal Court on May 3, 1994." |
