Summary of Case:	"The City of Los Angeles produced a report that 156 felony and 15 misdemeanor convictions were overturned as a result of misconduct by officers in the LAPD's Rampart division. The misconduct included, but wasn't limited to: planting drug evidence on suspects; stealing drug evidence; selling drugs; falsitying police reports; beating suspects; committing perjury. At least 13 of the 171 overturned cases involved juveniles. Six officers in the Rampart's CRASH unit were convicted of charges related to the scandal. The Rampart scandal resulted in the City of Los Angeles paying more than $78 million to victims as the result of lawsuits related to the police misconduct."
