Summary of Case:

"Terrain Dandridge was wrongly convicted in June 2007 of 2nd degree assault in the attack on a white man outside a movie theater in New York City's Greenwich Village by a group of black lesbians. After Dandridge's conviction by a jury she was sentenced to 3-1/2 years in prison. Dandridge's three co-defendants were convicted of more serious charges and given longer prison sentences. Dandridge's conviction was vacated by the New York Court of Appeals on June 19, 2008 which ordered dismissal of the charges against her because "we conclude there was insufficient evidence that defendant Dandridge's limited involvement in the altercation was intended to aid, or actually aided, any other member of the group to cause physical injury." The appeals court also overturned the conviction of Renata Hill, but it ordered a retrial. To avoid a retrial Hill accepted a plea deal."
