Summary of Case:	"Mark Denny was wrongly convicted in February 1989 of rape in Kings County, New York. Denny filed a notice of claim in March 2018 against New York City, in which he notified the city he intended to file a $50 million federal civil rights lawsuit against the city and the NYPD. Prior to filing his lawsuit, on May 24, 2019 Denny agreed to a payment of $9.75 million in exchange for surrendering his right to sue New York City and hold it harmless for his arrest and imprisonment. NYC's comptroller said it was in the interests of the city to settle the case pre-litigation."
