Summary of Case:	"Robert Dewey was wrongly convicted in 1996 of the 1994 rape and murder of 19-year-old Jacie Taylor in Palisade, Colorado. He was sentenced to life in prison. Post-conviction DNA testing unavailable at the time of his trial excluded him as Taylor's assailant, while it matched the DNA of another man, Douglas Thames, who was serving a life sentenced for a murder in Ft. Collins. Thames was indicted for Taylor's rape and murder, and on April 25, 2012 the dismissal of Dewey's conviction was unopposed by the Mesa County district attorney. Dewey was released that same day after more than 17 years of wrongful imprisonment (6,219 days). On November 25, 2015 a jury found Thames guilty of first-degree murder and first-degree sexual assault for killing and raping Taylor. Thames was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder conviction and 48 years in prison for the sexual assault conviction. Dewey was awarded $1,200,000 in compensation by the State of Colorado in September 2013."
