Summary of Case: |
"Isaac Dixon was wrongly convicted on July 24, 2014 of possession of a controlled substance in Harris County, Texas. Dixon pled guilty based on a field test that a substance seized from him tested positive for ecstasy. Dixon was sentenced to 90 days in jail. More than a year later the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences tested the substance and discovered it only contained antihistamine and caffeine. Based on the new evidence the Harris County District Attorneys Post-Conviction Review Unit and Dixons attorney jointly filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus to vacate Dixon's conviction, which was granted on June 10, 2015 by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. The motion by the Harris County DA's Office to dismiss the charge was granted on July 14, 2015." |
